Steam user reviews written in Japanese, posted Sep 1-29, 2026, retrieved with Steam's public review listing for the 68 games this site follows: 2,313 reviews about 34 games. The site follows games that appear in the Japanese Steam store's best-seller, new-release and featured lists or among the most played games on Steam, once they have at least 30 reviews in Japanese.
How the reviews were classified
Every review was read by a language model, which rated how positive it is, how much concrete detail it gives, and which of 15 fixed topics it talks about. The counts and percentages in this article were then computed from those labels in ordinary code, not by the model. Automatic classification makes mistakes, so single percentages should be read as approximate. Reviews of fewer than 15 characters were not sent to the model; they count as positive or negative from the reviewer's own recommendation and carry no topic.
Limits
Only games with at least 50 reviews in the period are ranked. They are ordered by the lower end of the 95% confidence interval of the share that recommends the game, so a game with few reviews cannot lead on chance. People who write a Steam review in Japanese are not a representative sample of everyone who plays in Japan, and the language of a review does not establish where its author lives. Games this site does not follow are not included.
